Capitonné work is the hallmark of an authentic Chesterfield. The diamond quilting is done by hand and is stopped by covered buttons, which keep the upholstery in perfect tension.
The rounded armrest blends seamlessly with the backrest and has vaulted, asymmetrical pleats at the front.
Originally made of genuine leather, today it is also popular in velvet.
The feet are usually made of turned wood, with a polished or matte walnut finish.
